Nerial to halt development and lay off remaining employees
The British studio behind Reigns says its move into hibernation was agreed with owner Devolver Digital.

Nerial says it is ending development and laying off its remaining employees as it enters hibernation. Co-founders François and Tamara Alliot shared the announcement in a social media post, describing the decision as an agreement with Devolver Digital.
The British studio is known for Reigns, Card Shark and The Crush House. According to the co-founders, the halt follows 13 years of work and 11 published games; Devolver acquired Nerial in 2021.
For developers, the immediate consequence is the loss of the studio’s remaining jobs alongside the end of development. The co-founders said they need time away to reflect before returning with a different perspective, but the announcement provides no timetable for that return.
